ESG Highlights from 2024
On the environmental front, the report’s main highlight is the 12.1% decrease in the company’s total carbon footprint. This was largely driven by a 52.6% reduction in Scope 2 emissions, attributed to the adoption of green electricity and emission-free heating.
The company also formalized and integrated new Green Coding Guidelines into its software development lifecycle (SDLC). Green coding practices include writing more efficient code, reducing unnecessary network requests, and choosing energy-efficient libraries to reduce energy consumption in product development.
In parallel with environmental measures, Evitec has introduced AI Guidelines to ensure its innovations are developed responsibly. The report states these ethical principles focus on fairness, data privacy, and human oversight, while aligning with regulations like the EU AI Act. The goal is to deploy AI to solve tangible problems for its financial sector customers, such as automating lending processes, enhancing finance industry customer service, and generating smarter analytics.
From a governance perspective, the company achieved the critical ISO 27001 certification for information security management, and an EcoVadis Silver medal, which places Evitec in the 86th percentile of companies rated globally.
On the social front, the report notes that in 2024 women make up 26% of personnel and 24% of management positions. To actively advance workplace equality and inclusive leadership, Evitec joined the UN’s Target Gender Equality Accelerator program. The report also highlights the launch of Evitec’s internal LEAD (Learn, Engage and Accelerate Development) program, which is designed to create clear and holistic career paths for its employees.
