Proactive Occupational Health through Data Partnership: Finla Työterveys and Evitec Solutions Renewed Reporting

Finla’s CEO Anu Pekki and Olli Purma, reporting specialist and team lead

Finla Työterveys modernized its reporting system with the help of Evitec Solutions and Microsoft Fabric. Focused on proactive occupational health, Finla can now extract more value from its data, safely and flexibly. Long-term collaboration, open communication, and Evitec’s expertise were key factors in the successful project.

Finla Työterveys is a strong Finnish pioneer in occupational health, offering its corporate clients top expertise, preventive thinking, and digital service solutions. The company has specialized in proactive occupational health for over 50 years.

– We want to identify factors affecting occupational health before they turn into sick leaves, says Anu Pekki, CEO of Finla.

The long-term development work with client companies has produced results, and reporting has always been Finla’s strength. However, traditional reporting systems, such as the previous Qlik environment, no longer met changing needs.

– We have skilled reporting professionals and application specialists who have processed data for our data warehouse as thoroughly as possible. However, we wanted to rise to the next level and make more efficient use of information, and we couldn’t develop reporting ourselves, Pekki describes.

New Gear for Data-Driven Management with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI

After some research, Finla chose Evitec as its partner to implement a new reporting solution. Microsoft Fabric was selected as the core of the solution, with a transition to Power BI reporting, which brought desired versatility, depth, and modernization to data analysis. The transition was a significant change, during which both parties learned more from each other.

– Microsoft Fabric enables access to real-time information and the ability to independently delve into it in a way that supports each person’s work, says Anu Pekki.

Reporting specialist and team lead Olli Purma was responsible for the project on Finla’s side. He says:

– The previously used systems were good and carefully chosen at the time, but their operating logic was difficult to unpack. With Fabric and Power BI, we can see from the beginning where the data comes from and how to utilize it.

The new reporting solution has already brought concrete benefits to Finla, such as improved time efficiency.

– Until now, we had to do a lot manually, but now we can trust that the data comes automatically from the system. Our customers now have visibility into what’s happening in the environment, Purma rejoices.

Security as a Priority

For Finla, data protection is extremely important.

– Individual personal data must never be visible to client companies under any circumstances. Evitec’s commitment to data security was a key factor in choosing a partner, Pekki emphasizes.

Evitec Solutions is ISO 27001 certified, demonstrating the company’s commitment to demanding security standards. This includes regular assessment of security capabilities.

Evitec’s team also actively participated in data protection training during the project.

Collaboration Bears Fruit – More Than a Technical Implementation

Evitec’s role in the project was not limited to technical implementation.

Finla particularly appreciates Evitec’s long experience with the specifics of occupational health reporting and genuine interest in Finla’s operations and needs. Evitec’s expertise helped find practical solutions and streamline processes, in addition to modernizing the old reporting system to meet contemporary needs.

– We received understanding from Evitec’s experts, based on long experience, about what reports are worth producing and where they come from, Purma says.

Pekki highlights especially the meritorious work of Evitec’s experienced reporting consultant Iiris Karjalainen at Finla.

– Iiris’s long experience with Finla and regular presence significantly facilitated the implementation of the project, says Anu Pekki.

– Evitec clearly worked to ensure that we received quick and transparent answers to our questions regardless of the situation, which increased trust, Purma states.

Evitec’s project manager Arsi Kähkönen emphasizes:

– Converting reporting from one technology platform to another is complicated in its own way, and we learned a lot about Fabric along the way. It’s important for us to communicate openly about project progress and possible challenges without explanations. This way, it’s nice to work together and look for the best solutions.

– The foundation structure is now really good. We didn’t look for the easiest path, but made a solution that is truly compatible with our needs and enables future development, Olli Purma summarizes.
